Biography

Inge-Lise Nygaard grew up in Denmark. From an early age she was a chorister at Haderslev Cathedral.  Then followed studies at The Danish National  Academy of Music  and The Royal Danish Academy of Music, graduating as a singer and organist. During her studies Inge-Lise was a soloist and did recordings and life performances  with South Denmark Philharmonic, Ensemble 415 and  vocal ensemble, Musica ficta .

Inge-Lise then moved to London to continue her vocal studies with Jessica Cash and Emma Kirkby.

 

Inge-Lise works as a concert singer and is also the director of Music and organist at St. Katherine’s Church in Regent’s Park.

Furthermore, Inge-Lise is pursuing a career as a specialist singing teacher at St. Paul’s Cathedral School and Bancroft’s School in London. 

As a singer Inge-Lise performs concerts and oratorios and has been the soloist with Spiritato, Twickenham Choral Society, and The Cavendish Ensemble and given recitals at The Danish Church in London, Chelsea Old Church, and Union Chapel. Every summer she has a concert tour in Denmark.

Inge-Lise has a passionate interest in creating programmes with a theme, often combined with storytelling resulting in a special atmosphere. She enjoys performing music rare and seldom heard, and loves to introduce her audience to new musical experiences.

Concert History

Inge-Lise Nygaard Parsons has worked with many prominent musicians in her career as a singer that started at a very young age. During her studies at The Academy of Music in Esbjerg she was a founder member of the pioneering baroque ensemble, Vestjysk Barokensemble conducted by Lars Ole Mathiasen, now artistic director of “The New Opera” in Esbjerg, Denmark.

Other Danish conductors Inge-Lise has performed as a soloist with are a. o. Søren Kinch Hansen (Artistic director of the Chorus of “Den Jyske Opera”, Alice Granum (one of the leading choir conductors in Denmark) and Morten Ryelund Sørensen (orchestral conductor).

She has been a soloist in oratorios and cantatas with Vestjysk Bachensemble, Århus Bachorchestra and Storstrøms Amts Chamber Ensemble and with the renowned harpsichordist, Lars Ulrik Mortensen and his Ensemble 415. She has been a soloist with several choral societies in London. She has also worked with guitarist Tony Remy on saxophonist Jean Toussaint’s album Nazaire, which was awarded the BBC British Jazz Album of the year in 2001.

She regularly sings concerts and recitals in Denmark. In London she performs regularly with pianist Rob Hunter, and as a trio with tenor Warren Albers and pianist Kathryn Mosley. Inge-Lise also runs a series of “Fantastic Family Concerts” where story telling and classical music are put together with the aim to get a younger audience interested in classical music.
